  5. CANDIDATE WORKSHOP Elections 2011 MAYOR AND COUNCIL What you do…. Regular Council Meetings • Meet twice a month - 7:00 P.M. on 1st and 3rd Tuesday (length of meetings vary) • Formal – Council Chambers (Televised) • Forum to make decisions - Bylaw readings • Procedure Bylaw (Rules for Meetings) Council in Committee Meetings • Meets twice a month - 6:00 P.M. 2nd Tuesday & 3:00 P.M. 4th Tuesday (length of meetings vary) • “Working Committee” - Meadows Room • Forum to review/make recommendations to Council • May include a Workshop • 5th Tuesdays – optional for Workshops **Special Meetings – as required

  18. Board Structure Board Committees consist of : • Committees of the Whole, Standing Committees and Special Committees • Board Committees include both internal and external Board representation

  19. CANDIDATE WORKSHOP Elections 2011 BOARD OF TRUSTEES WHAT YOU DO…. Board Meetings (length of meetings vary) • Held on the 2nd and last Wednesday of each month (closed commencing in the afternoon and public meetings at 6:00 pm) • No meetings – July; August – last Wednesday meeting commences in afternoon followed by public meeting at 6 pm • Minimum 2 day Strategic Planning Sessions to establish Board goals and objectives • Various Special Board Meetings as required **There are many other requests for Trustees to attend community and school functions and events and/or special meetings.
