The New Air Quality Management Plan Vision: Clean and healthy air for current and future generations Goals: • Minimize the risk to public health from air pollution • Improve visibility • Minimize Greater Vancouver’s contribution to global climate change
AQMP Strategies • Reduce emissions from major regional sources • Marine sources • Cars, trucks and buses • Construction, rail and agricultural equipment • Industrial, commercial and institutional sources • Communities (e.g., space heating) • Agriculture • Develop and implement local air quality management programs • Enhance air quality information and public awareness
AQMP Emission Reductions With implementation of the AQMP: • particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) • sulphur oxides • nitrogen oxides • volatile organic compounds • carbon monoxide But… • greenhouse gases
