Fiscal Policy Expansionary Fiscal Policy: Used to increase spending during a recession Increase government spending (creates jobs) Decrease in taxes (increases consumer and business spending) Contractionary Fiscal Policy: Used to decrease spending if the economy is growing too quickly and/or experiencing inflation Decrease government spending Increase in taxes
