  8. Taking stock of existing dynamics and challenges in gender and DRR - as a starting point. Building ownership and leadership of experts, institutions or organizations in building the proposed partnership Gaining greater support from and building wider partnership with different groups of stakeholders Establishing an “Advisory Group of Experts” as an initial “driving force” Advocating gender relations and gender risk analysis in DRR Mobilizing resources necessary for supporting the initiative Strategy

UN/ISDR secretariat will: Establish a gender focal point to support the development of the initiative Facilitate direct dialogue between the Advisory Group and other stakeholders within the ISDR system Facilitate the development of an umbrella programme on “mainstreaming gender into DRR” Advisory Group: Provide leadership in developing the global partnership Advocate the urgent needs for gender mainstreaming in DRR at the Global Platform and other international Conferences Guide and support policy development and user-friendly tools to facilitate the gender mainstreaming initiatives Mechanisms

Demonstrating at least a general understanding of DRR, ISDR and Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) Demonstrating commitment to promote gender concerns and needs into DRR Advocating DRR and promoting gender-sensitive policies and programmes related to DRR Providing good practices and lessons learnt Demonstrating commitment to establishing and developing the proposed “Partnerships for Gendering Disaster Risk Reduction” Criteria for partnership
