Sanctuary Team Process What is the atmosphere of worship? Does it honor God? Does it distract? Does it help usher us into His presence? Are we being good stewards? Exodus 31:2-5. “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills—to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts. 1 Peter 2:5 & 9-10 ”you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ...But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

Sanctuary Team Vision Our primary goal is to create a holy space, set apart for worship and prayer. A tabernacle for His presence. • Create and re-create a flexible space that can accommodate more people in a variety of ways, drawing them into the presence of the God. • Grow in listening to the Holy Spirit and have that reflected in our worship environment. Align our space in the direction God is taking us. • Create a space for visual arts, musical, dance, movement and drama in worship. • Develop a space that is conducive to a variety of seasons and movements of God as the Holy Spirit leads.
The Current Design Establish the SE corner of the sanctuary as the focal point. Remove suspended ceiling and fluorescent fixtures and add 12”x12” ceiling tiles, replace and expose new heating/cooling equipment. Build ceiling clouds over entrances, worship and speaking areas. Add spotlights, flush to ceiling and 4 or 5 hanging floodlights for worship and teaching, etc. Re-position speakers into the ceiling. Add one or two 6-foot HDTV monitors in the SE corner for lyrics, text and Powerpoints
The Current Design Re-mount the video projector into ceiling and keep front screen and wall available for video and textile displays. Add acoustic baffles to absorb sound in the music ministry area. Build a sound platform in the NW corner (Crying Room). Thisopens up the back wall to visual treatments and extra seating. Move the coffee/tea table into the NW prayer room. Replace carpet with artificial wood flooring. Replace chairs with lighter and more stackable ones.
Timetable • Four weeks of evaluating and answering questions from members. • Schedule and hold another Family Meeting to present adjusted plan. Most likely in January 2012. • Create a final budget and determine best way to pay for remodeling (loans, raising money, savings or a combination). • One month of remodeling the sanctuary and relocation of Sunday Services. • The re-modeling could be done anytime of year. • Purchasing some items like the chairs and flooring could be postponed for financial reasons.
