  4. SAT School Day: April 16, 2014 – Communication Emails regarding the SAT will come from the following domains. SAT School Day: April 16, 2014 - Test Center Setup All participating schools will need to be established or re-established as test centers for the April 16, 2014 SAT School Day administration An updated Test Center Intake Form will need to capture any necessary changes in information for the test centers and all designated personnel • Test Center Intake Form due back to the State Department of Education on August 30, 2013 A Test Center Master Form will need to be completed again. This form is the agreement between the Test Center Supervisor and Educational Testing Service (the test administration vendor) and is due November 1, 2013 All test centers targeted for setup by November 11th

SAT School Day: April 16, 2014 - Accommodations for Students with Disabilities Applications for students requesting accommodations can begin at anytime, and should be made as soon as possible. • School verification: Coordinator verifies that student meets the College Board’s criteria and that the documentation meets College Board Guidelines. • Documentation review: College Board reviews a student’s disability documentation to determine if it meets criteria and guidelines. Students with a previously issued College Board “SSD code” do not need to reapply for SAT School Day accommodations. All applications for accommodations are due by February 26thto allow for adequate review and processing time before registration closes. An accommodation webinar will be provided in November 2013.

SAT School Day: April 16, 2014 - Student Registration Student Direct registration method • Students will again register using online vouchers • Vouchers are sent to designated Registration Coordinators for distribution to students Eight-week registration window • Registration opens: February 5th • Registration closes: April 2nd

SAT School Day: April 16, 2014 - Test Center Staff Training All instructions and materials are provided by College Board and ETS Completion of training is required for all designated test center staff Training modules include: • Reorganized structure based on activities • Increased use of graphics to supplement text • “Best practices” screens • Quizzes with answers an rationale Training materials distributed week of February 14th Training completed by April 2nd

  12. The Official SAT Online Course TM All participating Juniors & Sophomores receive full access for one year. Codes will be automatically renewed for 2nd year. • All current juniors should have received access codes in March of 2013 as a sophomore. • Welcome Kits with access instructions and new codes targeted for this year’s sophomores will be delivered to designated Coordinators no later than November 24h. • Please contact the College Board’s Online Course Educator support if you do not have codes for current juniors: satonlinecourseschool@collegeboard.org Support and resources: • Online training session for educators • 12-module educator’s guide to facilitate student use of the Online Course

Online Course: Overview • The Official SAT Online Course, available anytime and anywhere, is one of the most effective ways to get ready for the SAT. • Students will have access to a wealth of features and benefits, including: • 10 official practice tests from the test maker • 18 interactive lessons covering the SAT • mathematics, reading and writing subjects • Detailed answer explanations that review concepts • Automatic essay scoring with instant scores based on real • SAT essays • Immediate and personalized feedback

  15. Online Course: SAT Prep Course Implementation Offer a for-credit SAT Preparation Course leveraging the SAT Online Course. Students are exposed to and practice critical new skills, and review knowledge and skills they already have acquired. Students at all levels can be motivated—and better prepared—to demonstrate their personal academic achievement on the SAT. • Lessons • Lesson 1 – Overview of the SAT and Practice Test • Lesson 2 – Critical Reading, Sentence Completion and Quiz • Lesson 3 – Critical Reading, Passage-Based Reading and Quiz • Lesson 4 – Writing, Essay and Quiz • Lesson 5 – Writing, Identifying Sentence Error and Quiz • Lesson 6 – Writing, Improving Sentences and Quiz • Lesson 7 – Writing, Improving Paragraphs and Quiz • Lesson 8 – Math, Numbers and Operations and Quiz • Lesson 9 – Math, Algebra and Functions and Quiz • Lesson 10 – Math, Geometry and Measurement and Quiz • Lesson 11 – Math, Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability and Quiz • Lesson 12 – How to best prepare for the test and Practice Test • Course Material • 12 Targeted lessons • 12 Content and skill specific quizzes • Explanations of answers for correct and incorrect responses • Real-time Progress Reports • Course Schedule 7

Online Course: Classroom Integration Implementation • There are three different ways to teachers can integrate the SAT Online Course into their classrooms: homework, quizzes, and classroom activities. • SAT Online Course includes content areas and/ or skills that are taught in school – math, reading, and writing • Deliver lessons, quizzes, and/ or work through questions related to content areas and/ or skills being focused on in the classroom • All tests and quizzes including essays are automatically scored and teachers have access to the right answers and explanations for all questions in the SAT Online Course 8

Online Course: Independent Study Implementation • While the SAT Online Course can used by students for independent study without any teacher support or structure, we recommend that schools establish some structure for independent study but allow students to opt in voluntarily. • The SAT Online Course Lunch Program • Staff a computer lab during the lunch hour with one ELA and one Math teacher Monday – Friday that are trained on how to use the SAT Online Course (College Board/ GA DOE will provide training – we recommend having 2 – 4 teachers in total – half ELA and half Math) • Allow interested students to spend their lunch hour using the SAT Online Course, receiving support and assignments to complete on their own time • Class sizes should be limited to no more than 25 students • It helps if the students are allowed to bring their lunch • Every student that signs-up should be required to complete one full SAT practice test before coming to their first session • The Official SAT Question of the Day Contest • Post a link to the Official SAT Question of the Day on the school website daily • Encourage students to go on the site, review and answer the question, write down their answer, and turn it in at a centrally located suggestion box • The criteria for winning is participation. Students can win whether they got the question right or wrong • Weekly pull one female and one male winner from the box and present them with a prize 9

  18. Online Course: Communications & Outreach Communicating the availability and benefits of SAT Online Course to stakeholders will increase student registration and participation in the program. 16

Online Course: Communications and Outreach Ideas • Generate excitement with a program “launch” • Kick off the school year with informational sessions for teachers, students, and parents • Advertise program in the school and within the community • Advertise • Post flyers on classroom walls • List registration instructions on school website • Local newspapers and websites • Reach out to parents • Mailings, newsletters, and informational sessions • Incentivize student participation • Contests that reward online course participation, quiz, and/or practice test scores • Announcements featuring contest winners • Ensure access • Rotate access to classroom computers • Encourage students to sign up for time in the computer lab 15
