  2. ATLAS Upgrade/RIA prototype cryomodules have been developed • Rectangular top-loading designs • Separate cryo and beam vacuum • Prototype w/QWR & HWR to be tested 2006 • Suitable for spokes as well

  3. Existing test area for single cavities • Connected to ATLAS refrigerator • Originally for ATLAS cavity R&D • 2nd cave added 2002 for spoke tests • Small clean room for assembly

  4. Our existing horizontal test cryostat has been pushed to the limit • Design compromises may be affecting results; certainly slowing us down

  5. A new vertical cryostat will streamline tests & enhance results • Similar to box cryomodule • Minimize components involved in clean assy • Top loading • accommodates all structures • Fast turnaround • Diagnostics easily implemented
