  2. Which Students are “At Risk of Retention”?

  3. 1st Grade A mark of “1” or “2” in 6 or more of the Language Arts sub-sections

  4. 2nd Grade A mark of “1” or “2” in 4 or more of the Language Arts sub-sections OR Identified as an “Intensive Student”

  5. ELA Sub-sections for Intensive 2nd/3rd Grades • Change in Reported Areas • There are 7 • Change from Phonemic Awareness to Phonemic segmentation and the addition of Writing • Report Card Score Based on Multiple Measures

  6. 3rd Grade A mark of “1” or “2” in 5 or more of the Language Arts sub-sections OR Identified as an “Intensive Student”

  7. 4th - 6th Grades A mark of “1” or “2” in 5 or more of the Language Arts sub-sections OR Identified as an “Intensive Student” AND/OR A mark of “1” or “2” in 4 or more of the Math sub-sections

  9. Teacher Comments in Report Card Maria is a pleasure to have in class. She is doing very well in Math, Science and Social Studies. She comes to school every day very well prepared. S.B. Maria is exceeding in all areas of Language Arts. Her writing is very creative. B.M.

  10. Keep track of your word count! Option #1 Teacher-created – Write your own • You must provide Spanish commentary when necessary • If student is to be identified as “At Risk for Retention”, Aeries pull-down verbiage must be used, in addition to your own commentary • Please add your initials at the end of you comment if you are sharing students.

Option #2 AERIES Pull Down • Built into AERIES report card • General comments in English & Spanish • Spanish comments must be included if listed as Correspondence Language • If student is identified as “At Risk for Retention”, AERIES pull down verbiage must be used • Please edit for gender, grammar, punctuation, etc. • Include your initials with the comments you write

  12. Keep track of your word count! Option #3 Narrative Comments (NEW) • On district website (K-1st & 2nd-6th) - general comments in English & Spanish in Word format • Necessary to download to your desktop and then copy and paste into comment section • Spanish comments must be included if listed as Correspondence Language • You can revise as necessary on Word document or Report Card • If student is to be identified as “At Risk for Retention”, AERIES pull down verbiage must be used • Include your initials with the comments you write

  13. Please Note... If Necessary, At-Risk of Retention must be marked and noted via Aeries pull-down in comment section

  14. A Reminder... Only identified English Learners get an ELD grade
