  2. 408 O COME, ALL YE FAITHFUL Tr Frederick Oakeley, altd • O COME, ALL YE FAITHFUL, • Joyful and triumphant, • O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem; • Come and behold Him, • Born the King of angels;

  3. O come, let us adore Him, • O come, let us adore Him, • O come, let us adore Him, • Christ the Lord!

  4. God of God, • Light of light, • Lo, He abhors not the virgin’s womb; • Very God, • Begotten, not created:

  5. O come, let us adore Him, • O come, let us adore Him, • O come, let us adore Him, • Christ the Lord!

  6. Sing, choirs of angels, • Sing in exultation, • Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above; • Glory to God • In the highest:

  7. O come, let us adore Him, • O come, let us adore Him, • O come, let us adore Him, • Christ the Lord!

  8. 438 ONCE, IN ROYAL DAVID’S CITY Cecil F Alexander • ONCE, IN ROYAL DAVID’S CITY, • Stood a lowly cattle shed, • Where a mother laid her baby • In a manger for His bed. • Mary was that mother mild, • Jesus Christ, her little child.

  9. He came down to earth from heaven, • Who is God and Lord of all, • And His shelter was a stable, • And His cradle was a stall: • With the poor and meek and lowly • Lived on earth our Saviour holy.

  10. And through all His wondrous childhood • He would honour and obey, • Love and watch the lowly mother • In whose gentle arms He lay. • Christian children all should be • Mild, obedient, good as He.

  11. For He is our childhood’s pattern: • Day by day like us He grew; • He was little, weak and helpless; • Tears and smiles like us He knew: • And He feeleth for our sadness, • And He shareth in our gladness.

  12. And our eyes at last shall see Him • Through His own redeeming love; • For that child, so dear and gentle, • Is our Lord in heaven above; • And He leads His children on • To the place where He is gone.

  13. Not in that poor lowly stable, • With the oxen standing by, • We shall see Him, but in heaven, • Set at God’s right hand on high; • When like stars His children crowned, • All in white shall wait around.

  14. Luke 2:1-7 – Jesus’ Birth • 1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. • 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) • 3 And everyone went to his own town to register.   • 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

  15. Luke 2:1-7 – Jesus’ Birth • 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. • 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, • 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

  16. Luke 2,8-20 – Shepherds • 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. • 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. • 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. • 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

  17. Luke 2,8-20 – Shepherds • 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”   • 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, • 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” • 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

  18. Luke 2,8-20 – Shepherds • 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. • 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, • 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. • 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. • 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

  19. 602 WHILE SHEPHERDS WATCHED Nahum Tate • While shepherds watched their flocks by night, • All seated on the ground, • The angel of the Lord came down • And glory shone around.

  20. ‘Fear not’ said he, for mighty dread • Had seized their troubled mind; • ‘Glad tidings of great joy I bring • To you and all mankind.

  21. ‘To you in David’s town this day • Is born of David’s line • A Saviour, who is Christ the Lord, • And this shall be the sign. • ‘The heavenly babe you there shall find • To human view displayed, • All meanly wrapped in swaddling bands, • And in a manger laid.’

  22. Thus spake the seraph; and forthwith • Appeared a shining throng • Of angels, praising God, who thus • Addressed their joyful song: • ‘All glory be to God on high • And on the earth be peace; • Goodwill henceforth from heaven to men • Begin and never cease.’

  23. God kent jou vanaf het begin.Helemaal van buiten en van binnenin.Hij kent al je vreugde en al je verdriet.Want Hij ziet de dingen die een ander niet ziet. God knows you from the very beginning, Completely inside and out. He knows all your joys and all your sorrows. Because He sees things that others can't see.

  24. En weet je wat zo mooi is? Bij Jezus voel je je vrij om helemaal jezelf te zijn.Want Hij houdt van jou.Ja Hij houdt van jou.Jezus houdt van jou en mij. And you know what's so great? With Jesus you can feel free to just be yourself. Because He loves you, Yes He loves you, Jesus loves you and me.

  25. 36 AWAY IN A MANGER Verses 1 & 2 unknown Verse 3 J T McFarland • AWAY IN A MANGER, no crib for a bed, • The little Lord Jesus • laid down His sweet head; • The stars in the bright sky • looked down where He lay; • The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

  26. The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes, • But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes: • I love You, Lord Jesus! • Look down from the sky • And stay by my side until morning is nigh. • Be near me, Lord Jesus: I ask You to stay • Close by me forever and love me, I pray; • Bless all the dear children in Your tender care, • And fit us for heaven to live with You there.

  27. 251 IT CAME UPON THE MIDNIGHT E H Sears • IT CAME UPON THE MIDNIGHT CLEAR, • That glorious song of old, • From angels bending near the earth • To touch their harps of gold: • ‘Peace on the earth, goodwill to men • From heaven’s all gracious King!’ • The world in solemn stillness lay • To hear the angels sing.

  28. Still through the cloven skies they come, • With peaceful wings unfurled, • And still their heavenly music floats • O’er all the weary world: • Above its sad and lowly plains • They bend on hovering wing, • And ever o’er its Babel sounds • The blessèd angels sing.

  29. Yet with woes of sin and strife • The world has suffered long, • Beneath the angel-strain have rolled • Two thousand years of wrong; • And man, at war with man, hears not • The love-song which they bring: • O hush the noise, ye men of strife, • And hear the angels sing.

  30. For lo! the days are hastening on, • By prophet bards foretold, • When with the ever-circling years • Comes round the age of gold; • When peace shall over all the earth • Its ancient splendours fling, • And all the world send back the song • Which now the angels sing.

  31. Isaiah 9:2,6-7The people who walked in darkness • 2 The people walking in darkness    have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. • […] • 6 For to us a child is born,    to us a son is given,    and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

  32. Isaiah 9:2,6-7The people who walked in darkness • 7 Of the increase of his government and peace    there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne    and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it    with justice and righteousness    from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty    will accomplish this.

  33. 314 JOY TO THE WORLD! Isaac Watts • JOY TO THE WORLD! the Lord has come; • Let earth receive her King. • Let every heart prepare Him room, • And heaven and nature sing, • And heaven and nature sing, • And heaven, and heaven and nature sing!

  34. Joy to the earth! the Saviour reigns; • Your sweetest songs employ. • While fields and streams and hills and plains • Repeat the sounding joy, • Repeat the sounding joy, • Repeat, repeat the sounding joy!

  35. He rules the world with truth and grace, • And makes the nations prove • The glories of His righteousness, • The wonders of His love, • The wonders of His love, • The wonders, the wonders of His love.

  36. John1:1-14 – Jesus, light of the world • 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. • 2 He was with God in the beginning.   • 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. • 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. • 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. • 6 There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John.

  37. John1:1-14 – Jesus, light of the world • 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. • 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. • 9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. • 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. • 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.

  38. John1:1-14 – Jesus, light of the world • 12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— • 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. • 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
