  3. Conversion Process • Muslims believe every person born is born a Muslim, because we were all created by God. • Recital of the shahadah • The pledge is to be taken in front of at least two adult Muslim witnesses. Ash HaduAllaa Ilaaha Il-lallaah Wa Ash Hadu Anna Muhammadar Rasullulah

  4. Conversion Recommendations • Shahada Translation: I bear Witness that there is no deity but Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad if His Messenger • Adoption of an Islamic name • Adoption of all Islamic practices • Emphasis on further association with other Muslims

  6. Apostasy in Islam • Apostasy: a total desertion of or departure from one's religion, principles, party, cause, etc. • Extremely big deal in the Islamic faith.

Justification for Punishment of Apostasy • "But if they break their oaths after making compacts and taunt you for your faith, you should fight with these ringleaders of disbelief because their oaths are not trustworthy: it may be that the sword alone will restrain them" (Quran 9:12). • "But whosoever accepts disbelief willingly, he incurs God's Wrath, and there is severe torment for all such people” (Quran 16:106) • Let there be no compulsion in religion.   10. Factors Contributing to Numerical Growth • Population Growth • Simply put, the societies and cultures that Islam dominates in modern day tend to have large families • Universal Appeal • Islam, when honestly examined from an outsider, truly is a religion of peace and submission

  11. Value of Numerical Growth? • Ironically, there really isn’t a value in mainstream Islam placed on the religion’s astonishing growth. • These values are more apparent in fundamental/extremist Muslims. • Cultural Jihad
