Fundraising through School Book Fairs • NY Public and Private Pre-School and Elementary School Book Fairs provide a great fundraising opportunity for RO&R GNY • Many Schools already hold an annual book fair • Benefits local community • Benefits children of similar age • Schools make money on books sold for RO&R • Young children can be involved in giving/charity • No hassle local delivery or pick-up • Provides easy way for families to donate used books, too
Fundraising through School Book Fairs • Forging a relationship with the Schools • BookSmart, Scholastic, and Barnes & Noble manage many book fairs and may be able to help make introductions. • NY Independent School Directory provides names and contact information for all private schools in NY • Make it easy for the Schools and potential donors
Fundraising through School Book Fairs • Make it easy for the Schools and potential donors • Provide PR material for use before and during event • At check-out, ask everyone if they’d like to buy a book to donate to RO&R. • Provide an opportunity for Book Fair Chair to select books on behalf of donors who want to save time • Emphasize ease of local delivery or pick-up, if available • Have schools commit to a certain quantity of books in advance and have book drive be a week-long event to sell • Tie-in with holiday giving season, if possible • Classes may opt for cash donation in lieu of class gift
