Speaking on p.32 Difficult points: What information might trade fair organizers include in a standard letter of reply to enquiries about an exhibition? • Dates, duration, location, size; Generally we use “venue” to refer to the exact place where an event or activity will happen. For example: This historic building in a peaceful setting over-looking the river provides the perfect venue for your conference.
Focus: the centre of interest in a show, showing whether it is for trade or for public. For example: An commodity fair exclusively open to traders: Oct. 22-23, 2005; Open to the general public, Oct. 28-31, 2003. • Stand size: the size of a small enclosed area where information and products are shown to the public at an exhibition. • Cost • Facilities (car parking, catering etc.)

As a general principle, writers need to provide ideas to support and illustrate their main points. • Linking words: • The relationship between ideas in a letter can be made clear through the use of linking words and phrases, showing relationships such as contrast, consequence and addition.
