The TaxiPass Process Easy as 1, 2, 3
Step 1 – Purchasing a TaxiPass Voucher • Customer inserts credit card. • TaxiPass instantly verifies card and accepts or rejects and processes an “off” (places a hold for a dollar amount to ensure customer has enough credit available to pay for the ride). • Informs the customer of the voucher fee – customer must accept (similar to accepting the fee for cash withdrawals from an ATM). • Customer can purchase two vouchers (an additional voucher for the return trip). • The TaxiPass voucher is issued. Total transaction time is less than 15 seconds.
At the end of the ride, the customer fills out the TaxiPass voucher (similar to writing a check) for the amount of the fare plus tip. Customer fills out the receipt information and tears off the perforated receipt. Customer hands TaxiPass voucher to the cab driver. Step 2 – Customer Uses TaxiPass Voucher Amount of fare + tip digits Customer’s receipt Amount of fare + tip written out Customer’s signature
OPTION 1 Cab Company Cab driver turns TaxiPass voucher over to cab company to pay lease. Cab company scans voucher. Scans are electronically sent to Smarte Carte. When processed (within 24-48 hours) money is sent to company’s account. Step 3 – Cab Driver/Cab Company Redemption
Step 3 – Cab Driver/Cab Company Redemption • OPTION 2 • TaxiPass Redemption Kiosk • Cab driver inserts their personal debit card. • Driver enters PIN number. • Driver places TaxiPass under scanner. • Scan is sent to Smarte Carte for processing. • When processed (within 24-48 hours), money is put on debit card account. • Driver can use debit card for purchases.
Step 3 – Smarte Carte TaxiPass Processing • Scanned voucher images are sent to Smarte Carte computer. • Smarte Carte processor views each image and verifies amount. • If acceptable, processor presses “accept” key. • Dollar amount is sent electronically to credit card company for payment.
