The sharing economy has been widely hailed as a major growth sector, by sources ranging from Fortune magazine to President Obama. • Time magazine ranked it among the 10 ideas that will change the world. • It has disrupted mature industries, such as hotels and automotives, by providing consumers with convenient and cost efficient access to resources without the financial, emotional, or social burdens of ownership. SharingEconomy: Definition The sharing economy is a socio-economic ecosystem built around the sharing of human and physical resources. It includes the shared creation, production, distribution, trade and consumption of goods and services by different people and organizations. The sharing economy is a rising pattern in consumption behavior essentially based on accessing and reusing products to utilize idle capacity.
