BB SIGNALS 11 NOV. 1999 Waveforms in vertical and E-W (transversal) component of explosion type seismic signal recorded in RUN4 Seismic Station located 9 km north the active crater. Acoustic signal arrives 27 sec later the onset of P waves. Spectra plots contain the seismic and acoustic part of vertical component.
CALCULATIONS • tac(aire)=daire/vac(aire)=4.636 km/0.325 km/s=14.265 s • tsis(suelo)=2.413 s • (1)tac(obs) = to + tac(aire) + tac(cond) • (2)tsis(obs) = to + tsis(suelo) • (1)-(2): • tac(obs) – tsis(obs)= tac(aire) + tac(cond) - tsis(suelo) = 13.289 (s) • tac(cond) = 1.437 s • Si Vac(cond)= 0.1 km/s hasta 0.4 km/s (Chouet et al., 1998): • D(cond)= Vac(cond) . tac(cond) • Dmin = 144 m • Dmax = 575 m
CONCLUSIONS • GOOD POTENTIAL TO USE VOLCANIC EXPLOSIONS AS KNOWN INFRASOUND SOURCES FOR DETECTION SYSTEM DEVELOPMENTS • VARIABILITY OF LOCAL WIND VELOCITY STRUCTURE • POSSIBILITIES FOR GOOD COOPERATION
