  2. Telling time in spanish • To tell time in Spanish, we use es or son. • Ejemplos: • Es la una. It is 1:00. • Son las dos. It is 2:00. • Son lasdiez. It is 10:00. • Son lastres y cinco. It is 3:05. • Son lascuatro y vienticinco. It is 4:25. • Son lasseismenosdiez. It is 5:50. (Six minus ten)

  3. AM or pm? • To indicate if it is am or pm, use the following phrases: • de la mañana in the morning • de la tarde in the afternoon • de la noche in the evening/at night • Ejemplos: • Son lasocho de la mañana. It is 8 in the morning. • Son lastres de la tarde. It is 3 in the afternoon. • Son lasnueve de la noche. It is 9 at night.

  4. Other ways to tell time • To say it is noon or midnight: • Es el mediodía. It is noon. • Es la medianoche. It is midnight.. • Other examples: • Son lasseis y media. It is 6:30. • Son lasdiez y media. It is 10:30. • Son las dos y cuarto. It is 2:15. • Son lassietemenoscuarto. It is 6:45.

  5. Telling time • To something is happening at a certain time, we use the phrases a la or a las. • Ejemplos: • La fiesta esa lasocho. • The party is at 8:00. • La escuelaterminaa las dos y media. • School ends at 2:30.
