Business Unit Structure Each BU in consists of 8 digits, for example BU_21401002 • First number signifies where on the P&L the line item will be classified. • 1 Balance Sheet • 2 Gross Profit • 4 Promotion Related Expense • 6 Sales Related Expense • 8 Operating Expense • Second and third numbers are the company number: • 14 - Scholastic Book Fairs • Forth, fifth, and sixth number signify the branch or region: • Branches are always three digits. Therefore, a two digit branch will add a zero to the beginning. • Actual regions numbers are 9XX; however, a general ledger code will be 8XX.
