  5. Seven Stars • Held in the right hand of God. • “Angels of the Churches.” • Recipients of John’s message. • Not the same as the entire local church.

  6. Angel of . . . • Angels in the book of Revelation: • Sea, 10:5 • Temple, 14:15 • Altar, 14:17 • Earth, Sea, Rivers, 16:2-4 • Sun, 19:17 • The living & active part of each object.

  7. Seven Stars • Guardian angels? • Angels in charge of each church? • Chief bishop? • Messenger from each church?

  8. Seven Stars (Seven Angels) • Not literally angels because . . . • John is not writing to an angel. • The order of Revelation never goes from man to angel, 1:1-2. • Revelation is a “signified” book.

  9. Seven Stars (Seven Angels) • Not the Chief Bishop because . . . • There were no Chief Bishops of any churches in the Bible. • The messages are to groups, not an individual (Romans 2:25). • The seven stars are being held in Jesus’ right hand, indicating people who are special to Him.
