A quick review contd. • Genotype • This is the "internally coded, inheritable information" carried by all living organisms. This stored information is used as a "blueprint" or set of instructions for building and maintaining a living organism. • Phentotype • All the observable characteristics of an organism, such as shape, size, colour, and behaviour, that result from the interaction of its genotype with the environemnt. • The phenotype may change throughout the life of an individual because of environmental changes and the changes associated with aging.
