Indian Removal Act 1830 • Jackson urged Congress to pass the law • Remove Natives from land to reserved land in the West • Allowed the President to make treaties directly with tribes in the East • Land in the West • Did NOT say they could be removed by force

Results • By 1837 46,000 Natives Americans were relocated • Opened up 25 million acres of land to white settlers • Since 1928 the US has honored Jackson by placing him on the $20.00 bill
