Organization of the General Assembly • Bicameral • NC Senate has 50 members • NC House of Representatives has 120 members • Elections • The state is divided into 50 districts • Each district contains nearly equal population • Senate and the House of Representatives is elected to a two year term with no limit on the number of terms
Organization of the General Assembly • Qualifications • NC House • 21 years old • Lived in the district for a year before the election • NC Senate • 25 years old • Citizen living in the US for at least 2 years AND in the district for one year before the election
