  2. DoxologyPraise God, from whom all blessings flow;Praise Him, all creatures here below;Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.—Amen.

  3. New Memory Verse1 John 5:14-15, “This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”

  4. Summary and Conclusion of the Upper Room and Garden of Gethsemane Discourses.John 13-16

  5. Summary of Chapters 13-14,(The Upper Room Discourse)

  6. John 13:1b underscores the overall message in these discourses. AGAPE Love

  7. “AGAPAO”, means impersonal and unconditional self sacrificial love.

  8. John 13:4-11, demonstrates the love of the Cross: for salvation (bathing), and our daily walk (washing of the feet – 1 John 1:9).

  9. Vs. 12-20, this love is applied and demonstrated through service and sacrifice on behalf of one another.

  10. In vs. 21-30, AGAPE love is to be applied even in the face of betrayal.

  11. Prophesized in Psa 14:9, “Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.”

  12. Fulfilled in John 13:18, “He who eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.”

  13. We noted the Doctrine of Betrayal and Demon Possession.

  14. Demons can only possess unbelievers, because believers have the permanent indwelling of God the Holy Spirit and a demon can not take up residency where God already lives.

  15. Vs. 31-35, when you walk in AGAPE love you will be glorified, when God is able to glorify you, He is glorified as a result.

  16. Vs, 36 our Lord encourages with the promises of eternal, heavenly life that continues through 14:3.

  17. Vs. 6 we have the great statement of faith and one of the great “I am” statements in the Gospel of John.

  18. This is the narrow gate of our salvation, Mat 7:13-14. There is only one way that mankind is saved, faith in the person and work of The Lord Jesus Christ.

  19. In vs. 7-11, we see the oneness of the God head. Jesus and the Father are one.

  20. In vs. 12, Church Age believers can perform greater works than the Lord did during His incarnation.

  21. In vs. 13-14, the unique spiritual life of the C.A. with the first installment on prayer, “In His Name”, and “Jesus will answer them.”

  22. Vs. 15, our AGAPE love for Jesus Christ is demonstrated through self sacrificial love for one another and praying in the name of Jesus Christ.

  23. Vs. 16, another encouragement, the giving of God the Holy Spirit, the PARAKLETOS, which is repeated in verse 26.

  24. With this is the promise of His resurrection in verses 18-19.

  25. Vs 22, the indwelling of the Father and the Son in the Church Age believer. All three members of the Trinity.

  26. Vs. 26, the Spirit will teach us God’s Word - the Grace Apparatus for Perception (GAP), our true teacher and mentor.

  27. Vs 27, another blessing, receive His peace. All doctrine is designed to provide peace in the soul of the believer.

  28. Vs 28, the Cross and His resurrection should bring expressed joy to our souls.

  29. Jesus concludes the URD, 30-31, by demonstrating His love for the Father by being obedient to the Father’s will and plan, as we should be to His Word.
