Use your knowledge of dividing with decimals to evaluate the following problems: 23.3 ÷ 4 112 ÷ 10 67.5 ÷ 4.5 Directions: Please come in and get your journal. On your next blank page, write today’s date on the top line. Title this page ~ Unit Rate. Below the date, write the Challenge Question.

  2. What’s The Best Buy??? Applying Unit Rates To Make Informed Decisions Unit rate = ONE of something Ex. Price per ounce ($/oz)… price per ONE ounce Ex. Price per gallon ($/gal)… price per ONE gallon Ex. Price per square yard ($/sq. yd)… price per ONE square yard Ex. Miles per hour (mi/hr)… miles per ONE hour Ex. Miles per gallon (mpg)… miles per ONE gallon Ex. Parts per hour (parts/hr)… parts per ONE hour Ex. Points per game (points/game)… points per ONE game

To calculate unit rate… you divide! • To find price per ounce ~ you divide the total price by the number of ounces • To find price per gallon ~ you divide the total price by the number of gallons • To find miles per hour ~ you divide the total number of miles by the number of hours • To find miles per gallon ~ you divide the total miles by the number of gallons Unit Rate
