OUR MISSION: To improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities. OUR VISION: To proactively build a strong, healthy and caring community.
WHO WE ARE: We are a locally governed and managed non-profit organization consisting of six full time staff and run by an 18-member all volunteer Board of Directors. We are one of 1,300 locally run United Way affiliates in the country. Last year over 468 volunteers from the community helped further United Way’s activities and goals.
WHAT WE DO: We run an annual campaign, coordinate a Community Investment Process, manage a Foundation, provide emergency and special project grants, coordinate volunteer run programs, and run the United Way Center which houses our Community Room, Board Room and a non-profit incubation center. In addition, our staff sit on over 21 community committees.

A History of Advancing the Common Good United Way of Indian River County has been serving the people of this community for 47 years. The United Fund was incorporated in Indian River County in 1961. Dan Richardson was the first president of the Board. That first ever campaign raised $41,000 in a county with a population of 26,000. Nine agencies benefited. We have come far in 47 years. Cumulatively, United Way volunteers have raised more than $31,400,000— a figure that includes last years’ record setting $2.44 million campaign. Nationally, United Way's history traces back 110 years. Today, the United Way system has approximately 1,400 community based United Way member organizations. Each is incorporated and governed separately by its own set of local volunteers.
