Why integration? • An increasing population of international students in Singapore • Importance of understanding colleagues of different races and cultures in a global working environment
International students • More meaningful and memorable school life through making more friends • Increased personal development in the social aspect • Greater sense of belonging to local community • Greater understanding of the different cultures, lifestyles and personalities in Singapore
Local students • Greater understanding of different cultures, lifestyles and personalities • Exposure of working with international students --> Able to experience and prepare for the future work life culture of working with people of diverse backgrounds • More meaningful and memorable school life with a wider variety of friends and experiences • Increased interpersonal skills
“Pay it Forward” Buddy System • Pair foreign and local students • Participate in informal and fun activities such as • Community Work • Picnics • Amazing race “Pay It Forward” concept: each local student will bring a local friend along and each foreign student will bring a foreign student friend along, thereby merging their social network. We promise a fun-filled experience!
Dates: Orientation! Picnic and Community Work! Mornings of 3 Saturdays!
“Cultural Salad” Community exchange • Participants of different nationalities will be grouped together to work on the presentation of one culture • mini-carnival: set up a small booth showcasing aspects of Short sharing session by representatives from each country • a line-up of after-carnival activities • Ice-breaker games& Presentation of cultural icons • Teaching participants some skills on making friends • Debriefing & feedback session

“Make Yourself At Home” • Pair foreign and local students (according to gender) • local students would host a stay-over for their partner. • fully immerse themselves in the Singaporean lifestyle • to simulate long-term international student homestay • better equipped with the skills in interacting with locals
