  3. You must make a CLEAR decision on your DECADE AND CATEGORY • What is your decade ? • What is your category ? • Famous People ? • Popular Culture ? • Historical/Significant Events ? • Inventions ?

  5. Decades Scavenger Hunt • Go to the 7th grade Lit Tech web page and click on Decades Scavenger Hunt. Choose a decade and begin looking for the answers to complete the scavenger hunt. • When you’re done, please print your scavenger hunt and place it in the black basket.

  6. So, you have your Decade and Category, now what? • Research Outline!! • Who is a famous person (ONE) in your category? • What is one (1) important event in your category? • What is the most important impact or result of your category on the world?

  7. How does this work? • First, I take my Research Outline and complete the 3 topics • Famous Person • Important Event • Impact or Result on the world • Then, I find a SOURCE (Lone Star website, book, etc.) • Next, I READ – looking for information about: • Famous Person • Important Event • Impact or Result on the world

  8. What do I do when I find information? • Research Outline! • Write down “brief” information on what you find • 1. • 2. • 3. • Write down the “source” (the website, the name and volume of the encyclopedia, the name of the book, etc.) • COMPLETE THE OUTLINE FIRST!

  9. My outline is complete… • Time to READ and find out details • As you READ take notes on each topic using a separate sheet of paper. • Staple these notes to your outline. • Write down the SOURCE

  10. Let’s Review • Decade? Check! • Topic? Check! • Famous person in my Topic? Check! • Important event in my Topic? Check! • Impact/Result on the World? Check! • Sources written down? Check! • Take notes? Check and Double Check! • Ready to write my 1st draft!!!!
