  1. Planned Pethood, Inc. Madison Huff Established for over 30 years as a 501 (C)(30) Non-Profit Organization

  2. Mission Statement • To reduce the overpopulation and suffering of dogs and cats through education and low-cost spay/neuter programs and to rescue, vet and place adoptable dogs and cats into good permanent homes.

  3. History • Planned Pethoodwas formed in 1979 by 2 teachers who were discussing the number of roaming dogs in the Toledo area that had become a concern. • One of the teachers contacted the United Humanitarians about their animal sterilization program, and not long after, people could have their animals spayed or neutered at a significantly reduced fee.

  4. Location served • Planned Pethood, Inc. works within the Toledo area to support their mission statement. They do not have a central office location, as the volunteers work out of their homes. What they do Provide lower cost spay and neuter options and educational programs. In addition to mobile adoptions and animal fostering programs.

  5. How they work towards their mission • Distributing education and knowledge into the community so people understand what responsibilities and potential issues that come with owning a pet. • Providing low cost, easily accessible spay and neuter programs to the public. • Conducting mobile adoption events within the Toledo area to promote shelter animal awareness and to place dogs and cats in fitting, proper homes. • Raising funds for various financial aspects that come in a non-profit by promoting events such as, the Air Dog Show, Dog Wash, Pooch Parade, Paw Hoorah, a Rummage Sale, and Yappy Hour.

  6. What I will be doing • I have made initial contact with one of the women working for Planned Pethood and she said I would most likely be dealing with the Public Relations aspect of mobile adoptions and spay/ neuter events. • In addition to helping plan volunteer and fundraising events and seeing that they run smoothly. • This will be very relatable to my future career, so I am excited to begin work with them! • I am still working out some kinks and getting things finalized with the Volunteer Coordinator as far as when I will begin helping, and what is needed and expected of me.
