Successful Observation and Feedback • Observe at a safe distance. • Stop any imminent danger! • Start with the positives – R+ • Show Concern • Ask: - “Why?” - “How can we do this differently?” - “How can I help?”
Your Role in SMAT Senior Leaders: • Conduct one SMAT (Observation and Feedback) each time you visit a Branch • Share SMAT with the Branch for problem solving at the next “Safety Huddle”
Your Role in SMAT Branch Team Members: • Five (5) Observations per branch/month • Will be prompted by “Safety Playbook” • Actively participate in the observation with the observer • Active discussion and feedback • Be open to coaching of observed “AT RISK” behaviors • Review each SMAT Observation at “Safety Huddles” and problem solve. • Participate in correcting safety issues that arise
