Christian IV was Denmark’s best known king Denmark was hit by the plague in 1711, and two fires in 1728 and 1795 which destroyed much of the city. After the two fires, the city rebuilt stone buildings in place of the old wooden ones. The language spoken in Denmark is Danish. The present Queen is Margrethe II, who was born on April 16, 1940.
