Compounds • Pure substance composed of two or more different elements. • Elements become a compound through a chemical reaction. • Compounds are nothing like the elements that make them. • FYI: Molecules are two or more of any type of atom.
Mixtures • A combination of two or more substances that are not chemically combined. • No chemical change has occurred • Different types of mixtures include solutions, suspensions and colloids • Can be separated
Pure Substances • A sample of matter, either an element or compound, with properties that are the same throughout the sample. • Elements have the same type of atoms. • Compounds have the same type of molecules.
