Knowledge Objectives • Recognize how death to self is the atomic-level component of Christianity. • Understand that each of us is called to be spiritually parenting others. • Explain the main discipleship emphasis illustrated in each of the three parenting periods: the preschool years, the school-age years, and the teen years.
Application Objectives • Respond by practicing God-dependent self-denial. • Respond by embracing a life of law and order so that you are productive. • Respond by allowing God to use you as a servant-leader. • Respond by using every day to get ready for “the biggest day” of your life when you will stand before God.

The Atomic Structure of Christianity: Death “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” Luke 9:23-24

The Preschool Years: The Rebel Broken • He must be taught the meaning of self-denial: “You cannot have your own way.” • It must become a God-dependent self-denial. • This is “spiritual kindergarten.” • “Be not weary in well doing” (II Thess. 3:13).

The School-Age Years: The Disciple Trained • The flesh will produce chaos. • Learning law and order are foundational principles. • Order does not make us godly but makes us useful.
The School-Age Years: The Disciple Trained • The empowerment comes from walking in the Spirit. • The motivation is found in the first and second great commands. • How well do you smell smoke?
