  9. Value for CPUT • Maximize return on event investment • events are expensive, the more people that participate the cheaper the cost per head • Mass participation is possible with live broadcast • Feedback mechanisms can include social media, email etc

  10. More value for CPUT • Stake Holders (Alumni, Students, Parents, Funders & Government) • Better communication • More informed stakeholder is a happier stakeholder • no room for misinformation • unified CPUT without stake holders leaving their computers • More effectiveness for Student Affairs development programs. Equal accessibility for all students regardless of campus • Think of the 'vibe' around Graduation ceremonies

  11. Even more value for CPUT • CPUT is using a cutting edge communication medium • Solved limited seating capacity in venues Example: • Chair of council or VC could address everyone from any venue at CPUT. Questions could be asked via social media and email feedback mechanisms.

  12. Upcoming events • WTF Social Media Conference • DDR Conference – Not confirmed • Spring Graduation • Thabo Mbeki Inaugural Lecture • Fashion Week • Student semester concert • Maybe Chair of Council address

  13. Cost • Outsourcing: R13 000 per hour • Only Windows XP, Vista, 7 • Done by service providers such as Net Dynamix and Antfarm • “In sourcing” cost to install: • R10 000 per year • Ample, but capped bandwidth • Every event is FREE to broadcast!

  14. Future Plans • Once off purchase of; • Transmitter device (encoder) and video source mixer @ R150 000 total. • Software licenses @ R10 000 • REASONS for equipment • Partner with TENET for free bandwidth • In sourcing of radio station streaming service. Costs saving of R 40 000 per annum.
