  3. What was the conflict between the monks? Upon what basis did some of the monks think the conflict should be resolved? What are some current examples of using these criteria for resolving conflict?

  4. Upon what basis did the Buddha suggest resolving the differences? Why does he place such value on this? Why do we even need some “rule” to tell us how to behave?

  5. Why were the animal friends initially bickering? How did they resolve the conflict? What was the basis of their “harmony”?
