Waves Lab aka Slinky Lab
Purpose • Experiment with Slinky springs to determine what kinds of waves can move along them.
Procedure • First, DEFINE – Wave & Vibration. • Second, DESCRIBE different, distinct, types of waves produced with the spring. • Third, WRITE – a brief summary, in paragraph-form, of your Observations and your Conclusions. Be sure these are distinct & separate sections. • Fourth, Include at least 2 (TWO), MORE preferred, DRAWings with completely labeled.
Observations • Describe motions in detail – in words (& numbers) and with drawings. Define all wave parameters. Conclusions • Describe, using words (& numbers) particular to Physics, what you have seen; amplitudes, wavelengths, periods, frequencies, etc.
Miscellaneous • You have 10 minutes, either in the classroom or in the hallway (with minimal noise.) • GO, DO, Have Fun, & TURN IN.
