  4. Requirements for Membership • Must be a health major • Must have been at TAMU for 2 semesters • Must have at least a 2.75 GPA

  8. Facts about ESG • National Health Education Honorary • Established in 1967 in Muncie, Indiana • Over 80 chapters throughout the US • Official colors are green and gold • Official flower is the Trillium

  9. Alpha Pi Chapter • ESG chapterat Texas A&M University • Established in 1978 • Health honor society

Graduate ESG • Oversees the researchpillar of ESG • Undergrads are incorporatedinto the process to make them familiar withresearch • Weworktowardsprofessionaldevelopment, whichincludes items such as: • Publishedmanuscripts • Conferences • Educational & leadership opportunities • Offersmentorship

  11. Kaplan Test Prep Partnership • Free practice tests, events, seminars, and workshops • Two Kaplan Course Scholarships valued at up to $1,999 for ESG members • A 10% discount towards purchase of Kaplan Online, Classroom, or Private Tutoring package • Fundraising events & guest speakers

  13. BE THE MATCH Marrow Registry • Encourage college students to join the Marrow Registry • Educate on the myths and facts about being a bone marrow donor • Coordinate a BE THE MATCH Registry Drive • Facilitate a focus group about marrow donation

  14. Attendance • Attendance is required at all of the ESG meetings • Everyone is given one free absence • For every absence beyond this that is not University excused must be made up by acquiring additional points (1 point for every missed meeting)

  15. Dress Code • National ESG Organization requires that all members attend the meetings in business casual attire • If there is a reason you cannot dress in business casual please discuss it with the officers/advisors

  16. ESG Alpha Pi Point System • Must get a total of 8 points over the year (Fall and Spring semester) to be inducted in the Spring • 2 Research, 2 Teaching, 2 Service, and 2 from any category

  19. MembershipFees ReturningMembers: $85 National dues- $50 Local dues - $35 New Members: $135 • National dues-$50 • Local dues - $35 • Initiation fee - $50 Dues need to be paid at the first meeting (September 20)

  20. Graduation Cords • Graduation cordswillbeavailablefor $15 • The National ESG requirements must be met- 8 points acquired and must beinducted

  21. ESG is a great way to get involved at TAMU, meet your peers, and network among health care providers and graduate schools We hope to see you there! Remember: the first meeting will be September 20!
