Word order. By Maddi & Carson. The second idea. The main verb must be the second idea of the sentence, although it is the second idea it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is the second word . The time is the first idea of the sentence.

  2. The second idea The main verb must be the second idea of the sentence, although it is the second idea it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is the second word. The time is the first idea of the sentence. Am is used for saying a day, “Am Montag,” and “um is used for saying a time “um halbdrei.”

  3. Example: • Am Samstagspieleich Tennis -On Saturday I play tennis • Ichgehe um halbvierzum Tennis -I go to the tennis at 3:30 Now try to write your own!

  4. T.M.P T-time- a date, day etc M-manner, how you are getting there P-Place, where, destination Ichfahream Samstagmitdem Zug nach “Melbourne.” Ichgehe am Montagmitdem Auto zurschule Verb, second idea

  5. Questions In a question the main verb remains as the second idea but the question word (wer, was, warum and wenn) becomes the first idea. -Wennspielenwir Tennis? If there is no question verb (usually questions answered with “Ja” or “Nein”) the verb becomes the first idea. -Spielenwir Tennis in dermorgen?

  6. Commands • The verb becomes the first idea and is followed by the subject. - GehzuSchule. -SpeilFuβball mitmir. Now try to make your own questions and commands.

  7. Worksheet • Try and do this worksheet • You have 10mins • Now get into three even groups and order these words in the correct order NOTE: there are two correct answers.
