6. What does IB at JMA look like this year? • IB scholars enrolled in the IB MYP through the CMS Magnet Lottery take the following core classes: IB Language Arts, IB Science, IB Social Studies, and IB Math. • All IB magnet scholars are required to take a foreign language, a technology class, an arts class (music, visual arts, or dance) and health & PE. IB MYP objectives are incorporated into all electives. • IB scholars must also complete community service each year to remain in the program (6th graders complete 20 hours, 7th graders 25, and 8th graders 30). • The philosophy of International Baccalaureate -- which emphasizes inquiry, life-long learning, international-mindedness, caring, and development of the whole child -- is infused into all parts of school life.
