  8. Key success Factors: PICs • Political will of the countries • Regional delivery from UNEP’s Bangkok office • Regional Networking with National Ozone Officers • Coordinated assistance from with SPREP, OCEANA, Australia, New Zealand, • South-South Cooperation

Lessons learned • Regional Cooperation among countries reduces burden on small countries • Continuity of the National Focal Point is essential for Institutional Strengthening • Networking with Focal points is effective problem solving technique • Financial and technical assistance is key only if backed by policy enforcement at national level

  10. Developing story The MP has contributed much more to climate mitigation than expected from Kyoto From now on the Climate benefit would be even more multyplying

MDG Report 2008 “……….This quantitative success in the protection of the ozone layer has also achieved important climate benefits because many ozone depleting substances controlled under the Protocol are also potent greenhouse gases. It is estimated that, without the worldwide effort to protect the ozone layer, the greenhouse effect of global ODS emissions would have equalled carbon dioxide emissions…….”
