What is a Disaster? What is a Disaster / Recovery Plan? Disaster: - Anything which creates an inability to provide vital business information for some pre-determined period of time. Disaster Recovery: - Restoration of vial business functions after a disaster. Disaster Recovery Planning: - The purpose of disaster recovery planning is to take steps in advance to ensure the continuity of critical business information in the event of a disaster.
