  2. Instructions: • Each day you will have a portion of the book read aloud. • While you’re listening, take notes on the questions you are given. They will guide you to what you need to know for the exit question. (They are directly related!!) • Answer the exit question in complete sentences using your notes.

  3. Day 1 • Read aloud pages 1-18. • Listen for what Anne is like. What are her personality traits? How does she act? What does she like/dislike?

  4. Exit Question Day 1 • In 3-4 good sentences address this question: Describe Anne.

  5. Day 2 • Read aloud pages 18-34 • Listen for what ways Anne’s life is changing. How are laws and expectations for all Jews getting stricter? How does that effect Anne and her family?

  6. Day 2 Exit Question In 3-4 good sentences address this question List several ways Anne’s life is changing and describe the effect it has on her and her family.

  7. Day 3 • Read aloud pages 35-48 • Listen for the things that Anne and her family did to save themselves from persecution by the Nazis. What was the secret annex? What was it like inside of it? What did they have to do to keep their living arrangements a secret? Who helped them do this?

  8. Day 3 Exit Question • In 3-4 good sentences, address this question: Describe the things Anne and her family did to avoid being taken into Nazi control.

  9. Day 4 • Read aloud pages 48-65 • Listen for What types of things did the family to pass the time in hiding? What things were similar to average people of the time and what things were different? What things did they fear?

  10. Day 4 Exit Question • In 3-4 good sentences, address this question: Describe the daily activities of Anne and her roommates. How did this help them pass the long hours in hiding?

  11. Day 5 • Read pages 65-82 • Listen for How Anne’s feelings are changing. Think about her thoughts about her mother, Margot and Peter. What does she long for? How does she cope with everything?

  12. Day 5 Exit Question • In 3-4 good sentences, address this question How does Anne feel about life in hiding, the war and her overall situation? How is she coping?

  13. Day 6 • Read pages 82-92 • Listen for what kind of person Meip and the others were. What did they risk helping the Franks and what did it cost them? How did Anne’s story end? What about the rest of the group?

  14. Exit Question Day 6 • In 3-4 good sentences, address this question • How does Anne’s story end? What happened to the people she loved and the people who helped her family?
