Human Fertilization Sperm need to go through both corona radiata and zona pellucida before entering the egg. Need large number of sperm to get through to the egg. After sperm enters, 1. egg prevents additional sperm from getting in, 2. second meiotic division occurs, 3. the egg is fertilized, producing the zygote.
