History of Vegetarianism in Malaysia • EARLY YEARS • Most were taking veggie diet • 1980s • Some fast food chains in big towns • 2000s • Many fast food chains mushroomed including small towns • Media influence • Distribution of Vege Food to public daily/weekly by religious-based groups / NGOs • Vege Food made available at events / functions by event organizers

  4. Vegetarianism In Malaysia • The practice of subsisting on a diet composed primarily or wholly of vegetables, grains, fruits, nuts, and seeds, with or without eggs and dairy products.

  5. Veganism In Malaysia • Vegans are those who do not eat meat, fish, or poultry, and in addition do not use other animal products and by-products such as eggs, dairy products, honey, leather, fur, silk, wool, cosmetics, and soaps derived from animal products.
