Introduction and background • Problem of counterfeit medicines in the Philippines • Initiatives to include educating both the health care providers and consumers about counterfeit medicines
Objectives • To develop and disseminate posters and brochures on counterfeit medicines • To train drug sellers, and determine the effects of these interventions on the knowledge and behavior of consumers and drug sellers
Methods Study Design
Methods Interventions As shown in Figure 1, the project intervention had three components: • Brochures on counterfeit medicines • Posters • Orientation training for drug sellers Project Sites

Results Respondents • 667 baseline (pre-intervention) • 708 at endline (post-intervention)

Conclusions • Drug store owners were willing to receive IEC materials for dissemination • Positive change in behavior of the drug sellers and customers about counterfeit medicines
Recommendations • Brochure and poster developed for reproduction by drug regulatory agency and national drug store association • Collaboration with the local government units regarding the IEC materials
