JOIN THE FREEMASONS! By Brendan Ameday
THE MAKING OF THE FREEMASONS • I have always wondered how the masons came about and according to www.mastermason.com the masons derived from the knights templar and when they were disbanded and ordered to be killed by the pope they all scattered across Europe. When the pope said that if any country harbored the templar they would be excommunicated from the church so they all went to Scotland (because it was already excommunicated). • Then the Freemasons were started in secret.
WHAT ARE THE FREEMASONS • The freemasons are a fraternity that meet in local lodges and according to the freemasons for dummies book, there is at least one lodge in every state in the U.S.A. The freemasons do rituals in a windowless oval shaped room in the lodges. The rituals are known only to members.
WHY WOULD PEOPLE JOIN? • According to www.askafreemason.com there are many reasons people should join, for one there are a lot of important people that have joined. Political people as well as celebrities are members. • Being in the same organization can give you connections to other people that you just cant get anywhere else. It also can help you make friends for life and joining is so important that on people’s tombstones they have the Masonic symbol. • Joining enlightens you on history, philosophy, and religion.
WHY JOIN (continued) • Many Grand Lodges maintain a Home for the needy members in their Golden Years. Some maintain a Home for the children of deceased members. It is a comfortable feeling to know that if you have minor children, and with an untimely death that your children will be taken care of by the Craft; and if you are unable to take care of yourself in your declining years, it is a calming feeling to know that there will be help available for you and your wife. In some areas the Craft maintains a hospital for the public and takes care of the needy members of the Craft as well when they require medical attention. This information came from www.masonicworld.com
Famous People • Benedict Arnold Mozart • Count Baise Scottie Pippin • Gutzon Borglum Mark Twain • Winston Churchill • William Clark • Nat King Cole • Henry Ford • John Hancock • Harry Houdini
Conspiracy theories • Many people out there think that the masons are some cult or satanic group but in reality, according to the Freemasons for Dummies book I read, it states that the group is more of a country club then a secret society. Although many people are afraid of the secret rituals that go on in the lodges as well as the secret signs and handshakes known only by the masons. Many people think the freemasons will “take over the world” by political, religious, and cultural methods.
The future • I think that the masons will change history (not in a scary bad way) because a lot of famous and rich people have joined and they have a big influence on this country as well as the world. There is masons in this country but also in other countries including England, France, Italy Germany, and even the Philippines.
DID YOU KNOW? • That George Washington, Ben Franklin, Paul revere, Fredric Von Stuben, and 26 of our presidents were all freemasons? • That the freemasons are the biggest fraternity to ever to exist? • That women aren't allowed. • That you have to be invited to join or you have to apply and you have to go through initiation.
My opinion • My opinion is this I think that the masons aren't plotting world domination and I also don’t think they use human sacrifices at their rituals. Even though I have no relatives( that I know of) that are in the freemasons, I think that it is a healthy charitable organization. Ask your self if it is so bad why do people join in the first place? All the people in this photo are famous and were masons (sorry it is small)
ASK A FREEMASON I went to a great websitethatlets you see questions and answers from real masons. Here are some examples: Q: I'm 18 I have just been told by my grandmother that my grandfather was a mason I only have 1 adult misdemeanor and I just wanted to know if there is any hope for me joining a Masonic lodge ? A: That would depend on the circumstances, and it would also depend on the lodge. Rather than have us go into detail here about your misdemeanor charge, or to speculate on the behavior of a bunch of lodge members we’ve never met, it would probably be best for you to ask your questions of the lodge you wish to petition directly. The fact that you’ve committed a crime recently may not bode well for your chances to be voted into the lodge though, so keep that in mind. Be very honest and forthcoming with the details to the lodge you talk to, and ask them if they think it would be worth submitting a petition at this time or not. If you want to know more go to www.askafreemason.org really do it the site is wonderful. I got all this information from there and there is so much more!
FREEMASONS FOR DUMMIES • I bought a book that really helped me it is called Freemasons for Dummies, it is great I got a lot of information from it including his opinion of why people should join, he said that the reason people join “the craft” is because they have very different goals in life maybe to help others with the charities they host or to feel needed or feel important or wanted
PICTURES • The next 3 slides will be pictures of various things lodges, Masonic clothing, and symbols used by the masons.
