  35. From the New Master Plan… • Transportation team… • 1.) Need to develop “master plan” for trail system in town and overall goal of improving Walkability… • 2.) Connect neighborhoods and public facilities to encourage walking to school, recreation areas, the village and the library by… • Map existing trails • Improved pedestrian accommodation to create logical connections and provide safe walking opportunities

Evaluation • Orientation & Kick-Off * Independent facilitator (LRPC) & speaker, (Mr. Corrigan??) for program overview * Standard student and parent survey plus supplemental to be area appropriate • Analysis Review * Compile & Present Survey (Particularly Parent concerns) * Map & Photo conditions in walkable/bikeable radius (unofficial travel ways) * Review of Master Plan, Route 25 Corridor Study & our Smart Growth Audit • Brainstorming & Solutions * Analyze physical and psychological barriers * Review potential solutions and increased walk/bike activity * Cost & Prioritize short term (no-cost/low cost) vs. long term infrastructure • Public Informational * Review the work and proposals with general public * Town & SAU Newsletter Our Goal: An environment where walking & biking to school are part of the social fabric

Education • Flyer aimed at the K-8 students & parents • Law Day or Public Safety Services Day w/emphasis on Rules of the Road, Helmet & Bike Inspections • MPD/School Physical Education will partner for fitness spin coupled with a Bike Rodeo and Bicycle Ride event • MPD’s SRO will add to the Stranger - Danger & Officer Friendly curriculum, ongoing walking/biking safety component • Partner w/Moultonborough Cycling Club

  39. Encouragement Community award recognition for youth who participate and achieve established trip goals for walking and or bicycling to & from school Free Bike Tune Up Newsletter: SAU & Town Gift Certificates

  40. Enforcement SRTS posted at 30 & 40 mph. Speeding is greatest issue in SRTS zone Almost 1,000 speed stops annually w/in SRTS zone MPD will continue its presence & ramp up w/added (NHHSA) grants Continued use of Speed Radar Trailer & Increased Inititiatives
