  2. TASK: Provide basic level instruction in proper radio-telephone operating (RTO) procedures. CONDITION: Given conference style instruction in a classroom environment. STANDARD: Soldiers better prepared to transmit and receive messages on unit radios.

  4. Precheck correct COMSEC/SOI data before deploying Preplan message before transmitting Use lowest power setting necessary Make only authorized transmissions Maintain alert watch for station calls GENERAL OPERATING RULES

  5. Listen before transmitting Transmit clearly and accurately Demand authentication Use the phonetic alphabet Maintain transmission security GENERAL OPERATING RULES (cont.)

  6. DO NOT: Hold personal or unofficial conversations Transmit personal information (names, SSN, etc...) Use unauthorized prowords (I.e. Repeat) Use profanity TRANSMISSION SECURITY

  7. PROCEDURE WORDS (PROWORDS) MUST be committed to memory

  21. SPOT REPORT/UXO/IED Is used to send a quick report on an event either during the occurrence or after the convoy is out of danger

  24. SALUTE REPORT Is used in the same manner as the SPOT report-it simply contains more detail
