Transition and teach-out RTO’s have up to 12 months to change their scope of registration from the date of publication on the national register An RTO may continue to deliver training, assessment and award superseded qualifications to students for up to 6 months after expiry of the transition period (this is referred to as the teach-out period) Students who have not completed the superseded qualification during this timeframe must be transferred to the new qualification During the teach-out period the RTO must not enrol students and/or commence delivery in the superseded qualification Reference: http://www.asqa.gov.au/verve/_resources/General_direction_Transition_and_teach_out_April_2012.pdf

Packaging Rules – how they work Core and Elective model 36 units of competency, consisting of: • 20core units • plus • 16 elective units, of which: • up to 16 elective units may be chosen from the elective units listed below • up to 6 elective units may be chosen from a Certificate II qualification or above

Packaging Rules – how they work These two examples comply with the 1/3 elective 1/6 imported rule Core and Elective model Core, Stream and Elective model 13 unitsof competency consisting of: 5 core units plus 3 specialist elective units in one of the selected specialist groups relating to occupational streams plus 5 general elective units,of which: up to 5 elective units may be chosen from the elective units listed below up to 3 elective units may be chosen from a Certificate II qualification or above 36 units of competency, consisting of: • 20core units • plus • 16 elective units, of which: • up to 16 elective units may be chosen from the elective units listed below • up to 6 elective units may be chosen from a Certificate II qualification or above
