What is the Theoretical Probability of getting heads on a coin tossed 500 times? P(heads) = 1 or 50% 2 (number of times tossed does not effect theoretical probability) How many times would we expect heads to appear? 2h = 500 2 2 h = 250 If we toss a coin 500 times, we expect 250 heads. Cross-multiply to solve the proportion. Isolate the variable.
Jenny flipped a coin 500 times and got heads 245 and tails 255. What was the experimental probability of getting heads? P(heads) = 245 or 49% 500 How does her experimental probability compare to the theoretical (what should happen)?
Odds - The favorable outcomes compared to the unfavorable outcomes (different than the probability) What is the probability of rolling a 1 on a die? P(1) = 1/6 What are the odds of rolling a 1 on a die? O(1) = 1/ 5
