EUC Refresh Project Overview Standardize hardware platforms, software and images across the enterprise for GETS agencies Provide improved service through standardization, established service levels and enterprise tools Laptop refresh every 3 years Desktop refresh every 5 years Initially this program will focus on the oldest systems A percentage of the equipment will be held each quarter specifically to support break/fix ~2,000 desktops and laptops will be refreshed in FY10 ~8,000 desktops and laptops are in the FY11 refresh plan
EUC Refresh Methodology T-90 Planning Process (Communication Plan)
Server Currency Program • In parallel to the end user computing refresh, server currency addresses aging infrastructure assets like servers • This program is being driven by the operations teams to tactically address areas that currently jeopardize business functions • High level of outages, failures, out of support platforms • The program focuses specifically on systems that will not be able to operationally wait on the transformational projects for refresh • There are currently 44 systems in scope of the server currency program: • As application servers are ready for solutioning review and additional requirements gathering, an IBM Project Manager will contact agency application focals for further discussions
Refresh – Commonly Asked Questions • What types of PCs are introduced through the refresh? • Replacement PCs are the same Dell and Lenovo desktops and laptops available on the Service Catalog (OrderNow!). • Desktops are classified as Standard, Standard Plus, and Premium. Laptops are the Standard model. Regardless of the classification, these units are much more powerful and capable than the 5-7-year-old units they are replacing. • How do Standard, Standard Plus and Premium desktops differ? • The Standard desktop (a basic unit without a CD/DVD drive) is intended to serve as a “Thin PC” that will accommodate most users. • The Standard Plus has an optical drive. • The Premium unit is for power users and developers. • What operating system will be used on new PCs? • Replacement PCs will be deployed with Windows XP to cause the least disruption to the environment. Any OS upgrades will be treated as a future transformation project. Any older OS versions will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
Refresh – Commonly Asked Questions • How will agency-unique software be handled when new PCs are introduced? • If an agency can provide appropriate media, that software will be loaded on the new PC. Software licensing will be addressed via the Software Asset Management Program. • Agency-unique software is discussed in EUC Refresh planning/discovery meetings with stakeholders

When will I get my new equipment? The MNS refresh schedule is currently under development and will be shared with the agencies once completed. Prioritization is being given to end-of-life equipment and any equipment causing a risk to AT&T or the State. Agency feedback will be welcomed from Agency IT leads once the schedule is released. What if I have a device that is currently causing chronic issues or a high risk to my agency? The AT&T Operations team is monitoring for these situations via chronic reports and escalations from the account team or agency. Once identified, the engineering team gets involved to evaluate the situation and options for early refresh. What are the additional charges associated with refresh? There are no additional charges associated with the MNS refresh. The month Resource Unit charge includes the charges associated with the refreshed equipment. Refresh – Commonly Asked Questions
