  2. Definition • The commitment that an individual makes at New Year’s/ a personal promise • Here are my resolutions • Spend more time with my family • Continue my running streak • Spend more time in classrooms talking to students

Making resolutions work • Have a short-term focus (not all year, but monthly) • Realize the resolution won’t be perfect (each day is a challenge) • Have lofty goals (reach for the stars so at least you’ll reach the moon) • Focus on what is happening to you (smoking) • Get support from family and friends

  4. Types of resolutions • Personal improvement • Family and friends • School and outside world

  5. Share resolutions • Have you ever made a resolution and shared it with someone? • What are some examples of resolutions that you have made? • 7th and 8th grade example (Empty Bowls)
